Personal Reaction:

Carle is known for his wonderful illustrations created by
painting on tissue paper and this book does not let the reader down. This
board book with its heavy pages is split across the middle of the page, with
instructions for the reader to match the home with the animal. Each home has
the word printed on the previous page to allow the young reader to associate
the name with the picture. One thing the book does lack is the name of the
animal which would double the reader’s vocabulary. However; even with that
one flaw children will love the pictures and have fun matching the elements
of the book. The sturdy construction will ensure the book will last through
many readings.
